Notifications

Notifications tell you when something happens that concerns you: a request waiting for your approval, a decision on your own request, a new memo, mail or event. They appear in the suite straight away and, if you allow it, on your computer or phone too.

What you are notified about

The bell

The bell at the top right of every page shows a number when you have unread notifications (99+ if there are more than 99). New ones arrive by themselves; you don’t need to reload the page.

The bell, opened. Unread items have a dot beside them.
  1. Bell and unread count. Select it to see your 8 latest notifications.
  2. Mark all read. Clears the count without opening each one.
  3. View all notifications. Opens the full list.

Select a notification to mark it read and open what it is about, for example the request or memo. When the list is empty you see “You're all caught up.”

The Notifications page

Open Notifications from the menu (under Workspace) or with View all notifications. The number beside it in the menu is your unread count.

All your notifications, newest first. Unread ones are tinted.
  1. Mark all read. Marks every notification as read.
  2. All / Unread / Archived. Filter the list.

On this page, selecting a notification marks it as read. To open the item it is about, use the bell or go to the module (for example My Desk for approvals).

Alerts on your computer and phone

So you notice things even when the suite is in a background tab, allow your browser to show notifications.

  1. Allow when asked. The first time, your browser asks whether the suite may show notifications. Choose Allow. If a yellow bar says “Notifications are not enabled”, select Allow notifications in it.
  2. Check it worked. Open Profile › Notifications. Under This browser it should say “This browser can show notifications.”
  3. Do this on each device you use: office computer, laptop, phone.

If the bar says “Notifications are blocked”, you (or the browser) said no earlier. Allow notifications for this site in your browser settings (usually the padlock or settings icon beside the address), then reload the page.

Where your organisation has set it up, This browser also shows Desktop and phone push (ntfy): a private address you can subscribe to in the free ntfy app, so alerts reach your phone even when the browser is closed. Select Copy and paste the address into the app. If the address ever leaks, select Rotate to get a new one.

Choose what reaches your devices

In Profile › Notifications, the card What reaches your devices controls what is pushed to your browser, desktop and phone. Everything still appears in the bell and on the Notifications page.

Profile › Notifications.
  1. This browser. Whether this browser may show notifications, with an Allow button if not yet decided.
  2. Push to my devices. The main switch. Turn off to stop every push without changing the list below.
  3. One switch per kind of alert: Incoming mail, Memos, Approval requests, Approval outcomes, Events. Changes save immediately.

If you approve requests, keep Approval requests on so nothing waits on you unnoticed.
