Find your account & reset password

There are two ways back into your account without help from anyone: Find your account uses your staff details, and Forgot password sends a link to your email. Both let you choose a new password.

Which one should I use?

Find your account

On the sign-in page select First time here? Find your account, or open Find your account directly. It takes three steps.

Step 1: Who are you?
  1. Staff number or IPPIS number. As printed on your ID card or payslip.
  2. Continue. Moves to the next step. Nothing is checked yet.
  3. Back to sign in. Returns to the sign-in page.
  4. Reset your password. Use the email link instead, if you know your email.
  1. Who are you? In Staff number or IPPIS number, type your staff number or IPPIS number as printed on your ID card or payslip. Select Continue.
  2. Confirm it’s you. Enter your Date of birth and your Phone number on record, exactly as HR has them. Local (0803 123 4567) or international (+234 803 123 4567) format both work. Select Find my account.
  3. Set your password. The page greets you by name and shows the email address you will sign in with (partly hidden). Type a New password and Confirm new password, following the checklist (at least 8 characters, a letter and a number), then select Set password and continue.
Step 2: Confirm it’s you, with your date of birth and phone number.
  1. Date of birth. Pick it from the calendar or type it.
  2. Phone number on record. The number HR has for you, not your second phone.
  3. Find my account. Checks all three details together.

You are signed in straight away. If you have not set up your profile yet, the profile steps start next (see First-time setup). Any other place where your account was signed in is signed out, and a confirmation email is sent to your work address.

Nothing changes on your account until the last step. If you stop half-way, your old password (if you had one) still works.

If it doesn’t work

What you seeWhat it means and what to do
“We couldn't match those details. Check your staff number, date of birth and phone number, or contact HR.”One of the three does not match your HR record. Check the staff number on your ID card, the date of birth, and try your phone number in the other format. If HR has an old phone number for you, only HR can correct it.
“Too many attempts. For your security, please try again in about N minutes, or contact HR.”After 5 wrong tries in an hour, lookups for that staff number pause. Wait the time shown.
“This step has expired or was already used. Please look up your account again.”You took longer than 15 minutes on the password step, or used the same page twice. Start again from step 1.
“Your password is set. Please sign in with your email address and new password.”Your password was saved but the automatic sign-in did not complete. Go to the sign-in page and sign in with the email shown and your new password.

Forgot password

Use this if you know the email address you sign in with and can open that mailbox.

Reset your password: enter your email to receive a link.
  1. Email. The address you sign in with.
  2. Send reset link. Emails you a one-time link.
  3. Find your account instead. If you don’t know your email.
  1. Select Forgot password? on the sign-in page, or open Reset your password.
  2. Type your email and select Send reset link. You see: “If an account uses that email address, a reset link is on its way. The link works once and expires soon.”
  3. Open the email and select the link in it. It opens Choose a new password.
  4. Type your new password twice (New password, Confirm new password) and select Change password. Pick a password you have not used before.
  5. Select Sign in when you see “Your password has been changed. You can now sign in.”

No email after a few minutes? Check your junk or spam folder. The message appears the same whether or not the address has an account, so a typing mistake in the email gives no warning. If you are unsure of your email, select Don't know your email address? Find your account with your staff details instead.

If the link says “This reset link is invalid or has expired. Request a new one below.”, it was already used or is too old. Request a new one on the same page.

Still can’t get in?

Contact your ICT unit. An administrator can reset your password; you will then sign in with the temporary password they give you and choose a new one. See I’m locked out.
